Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How does electric underfloor heating work?

The electric underfloor heating system works by radiation. Radiation is a heat exchange system that uses infrared waves as a transfer medium. Two bodies or objects with different temperatures naturally radiate toward each other and the heat flow moves from the warmer element to the cooler one.
The radiation emitted into the room by the electric underfloor system turns into heat when it comes into contact with an object, a wall, or a person.
Infrared waves are not absorbed by the air but by solid bodies, which convert them into thermal energy. This energy is then transmitted into the room, creating optimal comfort conditions for occupants.

Is electric underfloor heating safe?

The carbon fiber electric heating system is safe and healthy. It does not create air movement, prevents dust circulation, and eliminates temperature differences between different areas of the room. This carbon fiber heating system ensures maximum comfort while complying with regulations that limit the maximum floor surface temperature to 28°C.
The THERMAL TECHNOLOGY® system, as described in the tests and report by the IUAV University of Venice, highlights that “An average radiant temperature of around 21°C makes it possible to maintain a lower air temperature than the standard 20°C typical of traditional heating systems. This helps limit the indoor-outdoor temperature difference and therefore reduce energy loss. The analyzed radiant heating system also guarantees an air temperature difference between floor and ceiling of approximately 1.5°C, which is extremely low and beneficial in preventing localized discomfort caused by excessive temperature gradients between occupants’ heads and ankles.”
Furthermore, as it is integrated into the floor, there is no possibility of direct contact with live elements, and carbon fiber does not produce electromagnetic emissions (approximately 47 times lower than legal limits).

What are the costs of electric underfloor heating?

The initial cost required for an underfloor heating system varies depending on factors such as the area to be heated, the type of flooring, insulation, and thermal demand. It is also important to consider long-term variables such as energy consumption, maintenance costs, and possible service interventions.
The Thermal Technology® underfloor heating system, thanks to its excellent heat distribution, allows the room temperature to be reduced by 1–2°C compared to other heating systems. A reduction of 1°C corresponds to approximately 7% energy savings. In addition, the carbon fiber underfloor heating system requires no maintenance.

Which carbon fiber electric heating system should you choose?

In addition to underfloor heating, other systems can be used to heat your home electrically, such as electric wall and ceiling heating or electric radiators. Thermal Technology solutions can be used together to maximize performance or separately, as they guarantee optimal room heating, low energy consumption, maximum safety, and long-term reliability.

Why choose electric underfloor heating?

Carbon fiber electric heating revolutionizes the way you heat your home, ensuring greater comfort and well-being. Thanks to radiant heat, it represents the best solution for the human body.
As mentioned, heat is distributed evenly throughout all rooms, allowing the body to never feel cold, even if the temperature is not high. It is recommended to maintain a temperature of just 18°C to already experience a sense of well-being.
Other heating systems, although efficient, do not heat the environment in the same way. Since they provide localized heating, they require maintaining a higher minimum temperature, around 24°C.

Pros and cons of electric underfloor heating?

Summarizing the advantages of the carbon fiber electric heating system, we can say that it:
  • Maximizes physical well-being
  • Provides long-term energy savings
  • Can be used with renewable energy sources to increase energy efficiency
  • Reduces the movement of dust and mites
  • Requires no maintenance
  • Increases usable space within the room
  • Allows independent temperature control
If we were to identify disadvantages, we could say that it requires more rigorous planning compared to simply installing radiators and may involve higher initial costs depending on specifications. However, these are offset over time by energy and financial savings.

Will two thermostats be required?

The Thermal Technology® heating system does not require double temperature control (floor probe and room thermostat), but only room control via a thermostat or programmable thermostat. In the case of a system with multiple rooms, it is recommended to use the Power Control unit, which is able to:
  • modulate operation according to the outdoor temperature;
  • control and manage maximum absorption peaks;
  • set attenuation time slots.

Does carbon fiber underfloor heating come with a warranty?

As proof of the high technical and mechanical characteristics of the Carbon Fiber, the manufacturer offers a 15-year warranty from the date of purchase. The Thermal Technology® electric underfloor heating system is also:
  • reliable over time;
  • quick and easy to install;
  • reusable (if installed under floating flooring);
  • self-extinguishing and moisture-resistant, with IP67-certified electrical connections.

Can the electric underfloor heating system be installed independently?

The Thermal Technology underfloor heating systems are custom-made based on the client’s design, with the power cable exiting at the requested point. Installation simply consists of laying the supplied material in each room, so it can be installed independently. However, electrical connections must comply with applicable safety regulations.
